Ended up choosing this one, it turned out amazing.
Although I had trouble with the dvd menu... Encore kept crashing and dvd studio pro would not burn the content, then last resort idvd and not even that would burn the content.
But that was all sorted, with using another computer which encore worked on!
Ah technology how to be savvy at all programs???
Have tutorials for all of them/notes then refer to them when using the programs.
Who is a all rounded at numerous programs? awesome people that is who.
Is it better to be good at one thing or average at a bunch of things?
Mhhh you can decide!

Now I have to work on a few things to be printed for press kit for pearl... but that will go on my Pearl of wisdom blog.

TV Dinner Film Networking Night with Special Guest David Lightfoot

Was great!
I loved listening to his insight into the industry and how he came about getting into the industry.
Ah if only events like this where more frequent once a week!

Hearing people who have been there done that is truly uplifting and energizes me!

Much needed sleep is needed, big day tomorrow... big day of constant work, and the odd break here and there, feeling the strain on the body from constant hours of the computer, must stretch and take breaks!

But more about today! I had a day off from working on Pearl and well everything needed a breather and to chill out, be calm, not worry etc etc.  It was a good day, well needed sleep, late breakfast/brunch, salad, pancakes and eggs, if I had bacon that would of gone on the plate too.
Went to see a movie; beginners, it was lovely, thoroughly enjoyed, original, refreshing to walk out of the cinema from.
And topped it off with tv dinner night. Hoorah! and it was nice weather on top of that.

good night. more rest, more well needed sleep.

Showreel covers

In struggle town designing showreel covers... unsure on what to design.

With creating these perhaps more ideas will be born or if not settle on these with slight improvements or none.

Well here's some;

  scanned these leave quite some time ago, having a idea to animate leaves for future projects. The paper scrunched and scanned also for future projects.

Personally this is the most liked out of the three, it is simple and eye catching and has leaves in it again, Photographs behind the writing where taken in autumn, photography is somewhat of a hobby, wish I got the camera out more often, perhaps when I get a adapter for my old Pentax lenses to put on my canon I will pursue with more photographs, as having one lens can be a bit boring.
None the less, I enjoy this one.

Influenced by pop art, this is also simple but has illustration perhaps this one is more fitting with the whole animation thing, I could easily incorporate the one above with this one changing the blue to black and the black writing and bubble to white and behind the test have a solid colour or photograph.
(Ideas start happening when you analysis your own crap)

May design some more tomorrow but would like to ask a few people for there opinion before I rush off to the printing services and get 10copies made which will cost me either $82.50 for the cardsleeve OR $92.50 for the gatefold.
More keen on the gatefold, can even include a little bio in the cover when opened.

Reasons why images from my current/past work is not on the covers?

1. I am not real proud of my work.
2. Getting 10 copies done, and if the design is simple and just displays my name/simple design I can use the copies in the future and it won't be a waste of money, ink, dvd's, yeah.
3. refer back to the second reason!

On another note I must keep animating pearl, ah how the more you self create somehow it self sabotages too, your soul that is!... Determination to get this project is strong but dies a little bit each day.

Wanting to get back to you...

Ah how this year 2D has been interesting! (I enjoy it! such a challenge! Except pixels and aspect ratios will be the death of me)

I would like to go back to stop mo... plus I feel the need to expand out to 3D... I love all the mediums but should I specialize in one?
Feeling like going to do a diploma in 3D animation/modeling something is telling me to branch out in that direction, I don't know what to do where my future will go? Teaching yourself is always there but at the moment with sole focus generally is on my 2D production, there is time for 3D, but it's a matter of disciplining yourself.
Then there is this scriptwriting business, like I wonder if I am any good sometimes!? Is it a want to be? or do I have skills, potentiality? I own a few books on the craft why the flip would I waste my money on them, if I wasn't fascinated and eager to learn more? I often get no feedback on what anyone things of my 'story telling' techniques. (sometimes getting a pat on the back can give you a massive boost) but why do I need a pat on the back I should be doing it for myself because I enjoy it.
Sometimes I wish there was a place to go to chat to people who have been there done that, launched there way into the industry, listen to their experiences how they got to where they are today. Should I contact someone like that? It's a challenge to approach and find those people. (especially animators)
I have no idea why these thoughts are bubbling away, they just are.

Another thought wishing this beautiful creation I was building was in Melbourne (in my hometown atm) I would love to dedicate spare time to finishing it off...




Ah I'm a confused lass, wishing I had made up my mind and knew %100 or at least %80 on what I wanted to do instead of dabbling floating around doing a little bit of everything. Originally it was stop motion, but what killed that ambition (who knows) or maybe I do and I won't admit it. BUT here underlines a good thing about that, it has made pathways clearer.

This mock up was made for a trailer for 3rd year screening (just playing around though, not the real thing nor final one). Enjoy!
Oh there is a competition on David and Margret trailer competition I so want to enter it but a lot of terms and conditions, and don't really have any footage... I will see, would really like to enter it but don't really have time but I kind of do because I am sick at the moment lots of time at home.

Stop mo set clean up

So today I spent 2 hours or so cleaning up;

Cleaned out this cupboard so I would have somewhere to store things + the shed gets dusty dirt you name it need to protect puppets from that.

That's more like it... lovely everything organized!

The set had lino on it I am needing to peal it off or use eucalyptus oil or something but I have a white board I can clamp down if I can't get it off until I can replace the bottom of the set.

Next thing to do it set up the lights then I am ready to stop mo again!
Hell yeah, why did I ever stop?
It's what I ENJOY... not that 2D is that bad but it's not my first preference.

This weekend...

Going to set up my stop mo set again... So very excited... the stop mo bug has returned, since day one though it was what I wanted to do. though 2D&3D also enthuse me :)
Plus so busy with my major, love spending nearly ever minute I am awake doing anything/something creative.

I know I want to do something I enjoy and am good at.

Going to Sydney...

I am ever so lucky to be going to Sydney.
To the four day Robert Mckee Seminar.
Flying out extremely early tomorrow, so excited I feel numb.

But I'm sure once I am there it will hit me like a tone of bricks just how gosh 

darn lucky I am to have the opportunity to go.

Easter a little late...

Draw, drive, draw.

I am back in the country, yipeee.
Although I have lots of work to do.
Good thing about being back is less responsibilities and more time to focus on my writing, working on major, reading and relaxing and visiting places filled with so many memories my mind is overwhelmed!

At the moment I have the sniffles, perfect time to sit inside all day and work! :)
Annnd going on drives inbetween all of that.

Loving the fact that I own a wacom now, it is so good to work with and I downloaded the driver and OH i can change brush sizes with the wheel on the wacom and zoom in, it's so exciting short cuts are my new favourite things, using shortcuts on the wacom and in programs.

Would really like to draw some more other than Pearl of wisdom... but time, got to get priorities in order, leisure later.

New things

Got a new key board... my old one the shift on the left hand side yeah the one you naturally use got stuck all the time... So I had enough!... and got a new one! Also got a new mouse, speakers and headset!

And at the moment inking story board....
Most my time is spent on my major *sigh*... I wish I could multi task... one day perhaps.

... bought myself some little books to write down, draw down, scribble down any idea for stories, gags, jokes you name it, fits nicely in all pockets, amazing.

Two ideas I can only pick one...
Think I will pick 'show me that you love me'... because;
I can up my skills in 3D character rigging, compositing, tracking, lighting and still build the set stop motion style.
The story is weak and lacking.
Must make it stronger....

Wow...

The country is boring.... *tumble weed rolls by*
On the other hand I have been drawing everyday, just things from my imagination now on paper.
But nothing for pre production, shame.
But I will get drawing characters and concept art, stat, even though I don't have my idea 100%.... yet.
I think it is a tad too early for story boards maybe thumbnails.
Also I am still unsure on the idea to go for, I am scared of putting in heaps of effort going back to uni and my idea just being flat and meaningless and well just plain old bad... I need more creative criticisms stat, more more more! AND hope not be burnt out when I return, creativity drains you physically and mentally to be at it all the time well is mayhem & madness, everyone needs a rest. (I guess that is why we sleep) although now it is 12;36am, ha!

What else? Well I have been reading, lucky I remembered my spectacles!
Books galore, books have been making me think about story.
Along with children books short, simple, they usually have a moral and the illustrations are generally beautiful.

I wish to work ever so persistent on pre production for the next week, and can not wait to go back to Melbourne so I can scan drawings, digitally paint them, get back to all the programs on my computer and back to what now is the norm, I am away from my tools of the trade, scanners and programs.

Wisdom

Saturday night.

I Sit here listening to tunes, and in deep thought about this year, what is down the pathway of this year?

I honestly can't say at this point.

But it is the last year of study, and all I know is I want to give it my all... to make a short film, that I am inspired to sacrifice everything for.

Not hot enough

It is not hot enough for the beach...

Tomorrow is meant to be 29degrees so tomorrow it is.

So today mhh considering it's not too hot not too cold perhaps a stroll through the botanical gardens and a coffee shop for some chill out time and write a treatment for the 2nd idea.

And sushi for lunch :D... yummmmm

And I went to borders and got a green tea then walked to the botanical gardens then headed into the city and strolled around then headed home :)

And I did write that list...

I need;

2 x folders

2 x box of plastic pockets.

(I got everything else... at less I run out of ink for the printer!)

And the rest is up to me... to write, draw and create!

So if the weather is hot and beautiful like today I may go to the beach a artist date... oh dear I have not been doing them since the 22nd of December! I need to commit myself! This year is a fresh year make the most of it by committing ones self.

This artist date (if the weather is hot and beautiful) shall be myself star fishing it up on the beach ipod charged ready for listening to some tunes, this may and might get me thinking about another idea for my major this year.

IT'S A NEW YEAR!!!

I sit here scanning...

I think another hard-drive is needed for my major idea's I am working on, mostly they are located on my Mac but I must transfer them to my PC as well just encase something happens... dun dun daarrrr.

2 ideas in the bag, one more to go... it will come in time.

This year I wish to be good and filled with health and well being, creative fuel and energy.

May put some pictures up... but at the same time wanting to keep ideas for my major as a secret then again I have a bunch of questions about them!

Well I'm off to organize a list of what I need to still get for this year for these 3 ideas I plan to present at the start of the year.
