Exited!

Okay what have I been doing, well yesterday I went shopping but what for?
For materials for next years production, today I am building props for the  set.
Am I crazy?
Nope, I have been doing pre production for my major next year since I finished my minor, for some reason I was driven to do so.

The only thing I am worrying about is when I come back next year after doing all this work, that my idea some people may not like or think it's rubbish.

But even if I scrap it what i am building at the moment I will use for something sooner or later so no regret.

Don't get me wrong I am working on the story, but it would really help if I could get people to read my story and get their creative criticism about it.

And I have bit the bullet and decided I may be buying a wacom march next year (maybe) depending on $$$, because well I also have another idea, would love to do in 2D, I could stay back after school and use the one they have until then.
Then again most of my time will be dedicated to my major, but nah I want to do side projects as well, then am worried that I might burn out, not have the energy to do my major, gah, nasty thoughts, I can do side projects if anything they will be helpful, might go bit nutty working on the same thing all year and working on other things well is re refreshing? I think so.
Haha too excited, drawing later today hopefully I still need to get a A3 folio for the style guide folio.
I have in mind the style of the film, the appeal, the lighting, characters... Just need to get it all drawn and coloured, lots of work, but lovely work.
I have drawn my main character but she most likely will change, and I have drawn her bedroom, that may change also, I am real keen to scan them in and digitally paint them.. this is where the wacom would come in handy it would make things a lot easier I may have to go old school, water colour, acrylics, pencil etc.

Well I best be off I have things to make, things to do.

Music can I be musical?

Keyboard for Christmas.
Now to teach myself...

But in the past purchasing a guitar didn't go too well.
My guitar collects dust these days, I guess that is because I'm away from it 90% of the time.

Unfortunately I'm just using excuses here, the happiest people don't have the best of everything, they just make the best of everything they have.
So it is possible for me to have my musical instruments where I am 90% of the time it will just be a pain, there really is no room, I should be making the most of what I have though.
Just the keyboard can just fit, and still it will have to live under my bed most of the time, no where to store it.

But who cares, I got a flippin' key board! Already written all the notes on the keys with a whiteboard marker so I can learn quicker, oh I really hope I can stick at this even if I don't become any good giving it still giving it a go, you either have it or you don't.

Bed time!
Boxing day sales await!

ps; I got some bargains.

Sleepless

1;13, can't sleep so I am drawing and listening to my ipod.

This sucks I've been sick for a week, lucky the weather has been crap or I would be mad, from missing so much sunshine... that is if there was sunshine.
My sleeping pattern is terrible.
I wish to sleep but I feel alive now thriving with energy.

Just a little while ago I was drawing Jane's bedroom it is coming along nicely, perspective is a bit off, but I am not perfect.
Trace, scan (don't have a scanner, that is a problem), digitally paint, print and paint with acrylics, and then print on watercolour paper and also might colour in pencil. different mediums to get the colour, textures and appeal right.

But I can't do that until I got back to Melbourne where I have a scanner, and paints and watercolour paper and pencils.

In the mean time I guess I will just draw and draw some more.

Looking forward to going back to Melbourne then again not, I miss being at home with family, and I miss my old life, I gave up everything I've ever known to do what I am doing at the moment, it hurts time to time to be away from everyone to be away from your comfort zone. I feel so vulnerable in the sense that I have no idea where I am heading in life, I feel lost.

The unconformable at times it feels surreal to be doing what I am doing, studying the process of animation and film making, in ways it is too good to be true, I am ever so grateful to have the opportunity to be doing this.
I wake up in Melbourne questioning is this real? Maybe it hasn't hit me how far I've come from the Town of Traralgon to the City of Melbourne, doing what my bones have been aching to do; be creative.
Landing a job this year also has been a eye opener, I feel accepted in the career path I have chosen and that feels truly amazing, it almost makes me want to cry.
I am proud of myself, I never thought I would be.

I will work ever so hard at whatever I do, leave my footprint somewhere on the world.

Colours & Organisation

Eight stages to the major.

Pre production... you keep me occupied and make me feel good you erase the word bored and replace it with the word fulfilling.

Wednesday, December 15, 2010

This cheered me up;

Today I had a lovely day out with Ron, and as a Christmas gift I got this lovely laptop bag;

It is amazing, blue blue blue, bird, mac fits charger, sketch pad or pads and pencil case and even lunch I can bring this back to uni.

And yesterday I went grocery shopping and bought some cereal and got this in it;

And yes I did buy the cereal because of the free sponge bob door hanger that you can write what you please on it, 4 to collect.
I do quite enjoy how it looks like Eugene crabs is yelling, in my mind looks like he is yelling at me to do pre prodution.

As for my creativity... I can get back into it, but right now mostly paper work and filing, although a little writing and now more as I do have a extremely cool laptop bag now, I like so much I do want to bring it everywhere but not in the rain I would be scared of it getting ruined and the rain would go through the bag and then get to my mac and they just don't like water, oh no... not one bit.

My hair smells like a wood fire oven, from a restaurant Ron and I dined and wined at.

That is all.

:(

Love begins with a smile, grows with a kiss, and ends with a teardrop.

"The heart was made to be broken."

I am not loved anymore.

My creativity has been shot, there may be a gap where I can not commit to creativity.
farewell.

Studying and wanting a career fucked up my love life!

Things

Things do make things easier... like a wacom would be nice.... But i have a no name graphics pad... wacoms are smooth quick and glide so smoothly... the right tools help... did i mention it's smooth.
Must save and get wacom... eventually... if only I had a rich uncle who would do anything for me... !

Most importantly I need money for my major!
Plasticine to be bought, wire, wood, lots of would paint glue numerous craft supplies felt, wall paper, varnish.... budget will most likely be $400 -$600.
Need to refresh my brain on 3D also.

Back to my whinge.... wacom would be so nice.

Trying

Trying;

Next years Major,
I am trying to make sense of the story I am creating, it is what I have my mind and heart set on, just not sure if it makes sense if it meets what I am aiming for which is short, sweet simple and entertianing.

I shall complete a few versions of the story and will love to find someone to read them so I can get some creative criticism. To see if what I am working on is any good.

My biggest fear is putting all this effort in creating the sets and then starting next year presenting my idea, and it seems average then my attitude will change and I will not be so passionate with what I will be doing.
Creating short film with in a set time mainly by yourself is risky, it's a little bit like jumping in the deep end, personally I'd like to start at the shallow end and make my way to the deep end. But that's it you make up your mind with what you want to do and I guess that only way you get it done is if you jump in the end.

Industry you have a team, I repeat a 'team' of people, and opinions and everyones creativity gets rolled up together and that becomes the short film, everyone does what they are good at and collaborates.
I would love to seem more team work next year, don't be scared because when you get into the industry working with others is everything and if you can't do that with fellow classmates, well I wish you good luck when you open the door to the industry.

Maybe I should trust and believe in myself and do what I think is right, but I'm not sure what is right.

Mentors where are the?
Their around, it's up to me to reach out and make the best of everything that is right in front of me, make the best of what I got.
Even mentoring myself, don't got a lot to offer, throw in my 2cents but.

Short films... you'll be the death of me, but I wouldn't have it any other way.

Motivation

Motivation;
1 his motivation was financial: motive, motivating force, incentive, stimulus, stimulation, inspiration, inducement, incitement, spur, reason; informal carrot.
2 keep up the staff's motivation: enthusiasm, drive, ambition, initiative, determination, enterprise; informal get-up-and-go.

Where is motivation? What gets you motivated?

Me? I am motivated, I love and feel I belong with what I am doing, the best is I am getting a qualification as well, I can't put into words how happy I am.
What gets me motivated is;
  • Other peoples motivation
  • Believing in myself
  • Artist dates
  • Think; Every day, in every way, I am getting better
  • Focusing on the important things
  • Looking after yourself
  • Creative journals
  • Stationary shops/craft shops (tools needed for creativity)
  • Being around creative people is inspiring

Creating is a source of fuel, working hard is good for the soul, working on creativity is my soul.

    Playing around in photoshop

Just been playing around with brush tools, a wacom would help to clean up the lines better.

Oh no, haven't blogged in a while...

Well I have been writing scripts for my major next year changing ideas....
And wanting to do this story yet waiting for something better to come up with.
But I shall get drawing my main character, and continue filling out what I do in my production time line.
I just wonder if I'll remain keeping the story short, sweet, simple and entertaining.
Fingers crossed I wake up in the middle of the night with a pen and paper in my hand with the idea I am trying to discover scribbled down.

    Other....

    And also today I drew this;

Speech bubble; So the... nom nom nom... industry.
Pearl of wisdom eating; Calamari, there is a shortage, pearl of wisdom is going to hell
    THE END :)

    Hooray!

Shed is now open lazy susan wire tools paint it's all free, the only thing I need is $40 for plasticine...

And still more ideas for Major next year.

I can't sleep my mind is electric.

I just want to stay up all night writing, drawing, designing, thinking and reading etc

I really wish I could get a army of animators for my major next year and be more of the 'writer/director' and make the idea I had first year.

I remember quite well the first time first year we had to spill the beans on a idea we had for a script.
That idea 'no leopards'.. it's got so much happening in it, certainly would take years to complete  even with a team of people.

And my idea for Janey, (long necked people) I have a idea for a movie trailer but no I'd rather make a short. Still could but these characters are reserved for this idea only.

I actually found my creative journal from last year (in a shoe box) ha, and that is more of a personal diary and rambles nothing I read sparked a idea.

I know simple and sweet is what I aiming for, something achievable. I certainly can aim higher and should but being realistic is good.

    come on brain work!

some drawings... for 'Show me that you love me'

No, set backs are the pits and by pits I mean smelly arm pits

Okay the shed remote doesn't work and my craft stuff is in there oh my lazy susan, wire and tools how I need you to sculpt my new character.

And I need something to do; aka pre production, actually anything to do with animation is fantastic,
BUT what I actually wish is that I had more idea's as much as I like to create stories about experiences that have happened to me and random things from my imagination but further more I would highly love to create a comedy piece, but boy o boy it is hard to create comedy.

I enjoy the entertainment side of animation something take you away from yourself and makes you laugh because laughter feels so good.

And a lot of my ideas have way too many characters and are way to complex for my major next year.
The major for next year needs to be short and sweet and simple.

For now I wish I could develop the idea I have now but am worried and think that this idea won't go ahead because your first idea won't be the one you create?

On another note I don't know what I want to achieve in the sense of story.

But today I bought lots of brown paper and got prices on the things I'll need for my idea at the moment 'Show me that you love me'.

Even thought about my press kit for it, this idea is growing like a plant, slowly but gradually getting bigger.

OKAY so I think I have a solution but; Work on pre production for 'show me that you love me' and if any other ideas come up for the major next year work on them as well, it's good to keep busy sure I may be a bit burnt out not refreshed when I start next year but no actually I'll be a different refreshed a 'I've worked so darn hard' refreshed because if pre production is mostly finished on lets say 3 ideas then it's a matter of picking the strongest one and starting the animation on it, being ahead is a advantage and being ahead takes effort, effort that is coming from the holidays.

Think I'm done for my manic rave on today... finito

    Getting ready for next year

So I have been reading, looking and trying to figure out how to approach the idea I have for next years major, I still think I should come up with 3...  before settling but ideas are and they aren't coming to mind.. but the one I have now it's alright quite happy with it.

So I've been thinking of the materials I will be needing and the time it will take to build everything...

One problem last time I was at melb home the shed remote was not working... this is a problem my craft stuff and set is in there I can dismantle the set for my minor.. because well my characters kinda fell apart by the end...  I can use the set still just need more MDF may need to extend and make the set I have in mind bigger.

So I should be planning, drawing, designing, budgeting, mood boarding, I will be this week because going back to melbourne enrollment/hanging out with my mum, work and screening oh it's all happening, now I'm going back to what I was doing writing for work :)

    over and out, sign off...

    So...

I've already started pre production for next year even before getting hinted to... I started while finishing off the orange of ones eye.
Don't know how, thought my creativity would be running on empty but it's not...
I think opening up your mind and artist dates keeps the creative flow going, almost like a river, and if you just enjoy what you do surround yourself with inspiration, think positively creativity flows then before you know it your drawing, typing, talking and it's all happening.

already written the script... I just enjoy script writing I may not know all the right format just yet but am trying to teach myself and I read numerous books on how it is done.

One thing I know I should also start looking for sound... I think that is my Everest.

    Major for next year

So I have nothing better to do.

I am making a list for next year and typing out a treatment for next years major, I have an idea I feel quite passionate about the story needs work of course needs time to develop.
I have some drawings of the character and am working on the second character, next year 2 characters only 3 if absolutely necessary. went so wrong with having 7 characters for this year cut 2 out.

What really is mind bobbling me is what medium would I like to do it in...

2D- I enjoy drawing on wacoms ever since I used the one at school it's amazing,  but I don't classify myself as a strong drawer perceptive and angles I am a very flat drawer.

3D- I could do 3D but would need to refresh my memory and up my skills on texture, lighting and building backgrounds/sets I have not partially done in 3D, but the grufalo.. wow that makes me want to do 3D... I could still build sets.

Stop motion - I need to get real, silicone, latex, newplast plasticine, endless meters of armature wire, $$$$ spent on the set/sets... I love stop motion this medium is the best creating 3d with your hands not on a computer... but a lot of planing and I have to be realistic and get a few more lenses for my camera and make dolly and rigs and a wireless shutter, and no magnets tie downs this time.

    mixed medium/After effects
Make sculptures of characters 360degress photo animated with puppet tool in AE?
    2D mixed with stop motion?
Who knows I don't even know yet.

In the mean time I can explore different mediums on this project or on other projects I have had in mind... even just tests anything to clarify what medium I will do my major in.

    Today

I stumbled across Sean Murphy photography, http://www.seanmurphyphoto.com/ I remember when I did photography at school I had a assignment to research a photographer and I chose Sean Murphy, I recall emailing him and getting a reply, I love his work.

Before I decided to dive into animation another passion I have is photography, I still get out and about occasionally but not as much as I used to, I think the fact that it was a subject at school I kept continuing with it, but now that I don't have the facilities I have lost interest you see I used to do film photography oh how I begged my dad to build me a shack out the back to have my very own dark room, I think you can still get your hands on the chemicals but not as easy as it used to be with digital taking over and dominating the percentage of what people use the most.

Not did I only enjoy taking the photo's but developing them yourself was enjoyable, I dabled in black and white photography and in year 12 did 7 piece series based on the urban environment/bikes... I loved most riding around with my camera and snapping shots on sunny/during day light saving where the streets where empty, free and the day was coming to a end.

I actually recall wanting to apply for PSC (think its photo studies college), I blame my slack self for not seeing careers councilors during my last years of high school, I always knew I wanted to be in a creative field but where? I was unsure, I was passionate about Photography and Media and in media had the chance to complete a animation for my major, in the end I combined the two in ways, most interested in stop motion which requires photography.

But I am so glad I am doing what I am doing, it feels right, it gets me excited, drives me, and most of all it's challenging and fun, enjoying what you do is the key to happiness.

    Busy..

Been busy and feeling quite ill, I don't know what or why, but sore back and headaches just won't go away, I can't function 100% feeling ill. Today I was so desperate I went got my back massaged at those walk in massage places.

I have also been trying to finish off my minor for this year and also writing a script, reading about scripts and just diving back into drawing which I don't do enough of, I am not a strong drawer so practice I shall.

Also can't help but think about next year, planning and finding out what I would like to do for my major, ideas, characters, story, I'm running out of paper and ink. This year I am kicking myself because I know I could of done better and am annoyed at myself, I hope I won't repeat the mistake of not giving it my all again.

After my minor is complete and handed in I really would love to go back and see my family and kitty, especially kitty and be surrounded by the people I love, Melbourne is lonely.

    Friday, October 29, 2010

    Been drawing...

Ideas are flowing through my brain...

    Sunday, October 17, 2010

    Been thinking.

I've tried to learn a instrument before... guitar, I have one, Epiphone sg cherry red and my dad has a Fender Acoustic and I've never put the time and effort or practice to become any good, oh and in year 9 I asked mum and dad for lessons but they were to expensive (my school was a bit $$$$) and yeah I only had about 10, I learned off my dads Acoustic because I did not have the sg at the time, I bought that with my paper round money, didn't get much either 3 days a week $20 kept you fit, which was good.
The point is enough is enough before I die and decay in the ground I want to be able to know a little bit about music.
An I think starting off with piano/key board would be a good start, a friend of mine she learned piano when she was younger, I would watch and be amazed. I am looking at getting keyboard in the future.
Also it would be fantastic to be able to make your own music for your animations.

    Friday, October 15, 2010

    Booooo!!!

I haven't had time for other creative projects on the side :(
I did renovate where I am living now painted my room some of the spare room stair rails, it was a lot of work, and one feature blue wall in each room :D
I quite enjoy whom ever made feature walls popular they just bring so much more to a room :)

I hope by the end of November I'll be back on the creative wagon or at least have my note pads and creative journals spewing out words from the pages.

Next year is going to be great getting to do a major, I still don't know what I would to do just yet, aiming for another stop motion and well learning from the mistakes I have made from the one I am in the process of finishing now.

I guess my spark for stop motion lays with influence of one man, Nick Park, seeing Wallace and Gromit, oh my how that was my favorite! I wanted to be him do what he does, make my own little plasticine characters and maybe one day work in the industry,
But I do have a job in the industry writing scripts and oh boy do I love it, a dream come true over the moon about the job I have landed it's so challenging which is a good thing because it keeps you thinking, this job is in Melbourne and also in Morwell but Morwell 10minutes away from my hometown where my life WAS... and sometimes wish it still was but you have to chase opportunities and there in the big smoke where I am located now because of study.
I would love to maintain working for whom I work for and maybe move back to where I grew up, and possibly do a diploma in education to one day eventually become a teacher, teaching what? Teaching Media, depends on what happens in the future and everything but there some little goals I have implanted in my brain, I don't even know or think I'm that great with people let alone children, short courses in need? oh I think so.

The future scary in ways, exciting and can be disappointing if the things you aim for don't hit the target.
But that is life, and oh how I am loving and enjoying life.

    end of rambles :)

    Character.

This was for 3D last semester.

This character I came up with has a story to her.
But I don't know or think I should blab about it because I want to
keep the idea hidden away hoping one day to write a script make a trailer,
and possibly try to get funding.

So you can only look... :P

    In my spare time

I have made claymation stop motion characters, that are meant to my boyfriend and I, it is a our one year anniversary this weekend and thought I would make a short stop mo, like a e-card, I have yet to shoot it, but not sure if I will get time.
    I have just done pose shots, this weekend is 2 days away, at less I don't sleep, mhhhh that is always a option. Well here are the pose shots;

They will get animated spent too much time making them!
